Stressed children

In the article "Stressed children" the autor presents the fact that there has been an increase of stress and anxiety disorder cases on the young population of Spain. One reason that explains this situation it's the absence of the parents in the most part of the day, complemented with the huge demand from the society: natural disasters, violence and video games are just a part of a normal day. Others, on the other hand, express their frustration by been tyrants. This kids show a despicable behaviour making their parents life miserable, specially when they don't manage to establish some limits to their sons. In order to confront this situation, the autor expound three advices: to transmit serenity, communicate the values of the details of life, and teaching that they are the protagonist of their lifes.

This should open our eyes a little bit.

Social psychology

Tomorrow I have a test related to this asignature. In global terms, it's not very difficult, but usually sandal a huge spectrum of themes.

Social psychology it's a specific approximation of the discipline to the people's dinamic. It's interested on understanding about the feelings, thoughts and behaviors of people, and how they are influenced by the presence of others. Different topics that studies are the attitudes, social representations, dynamics of groups, social influence, violence, etc.

Basically, the social psychology has allowed me to understand the discipline beyond the individual. For example, now I understand more about how the social influence operates in the society and how, from it, the leaders emerge. Also, the role that there fulfill these leaders, the influence they have in their groups, and how this dinamic operates in the Chilean society.

One of the topics that I would like to study in the future would be the education, as social and reproductive system.

I find the asignature very interesting because it allows to observe psychological phenomena of a wide way, when traditionally they diminish to the subject. Also, who knows, I might devote in the future to this particular vision.

Ok, here are the two websites I choose. Mainly, because I think they have a complete information about the psychology discipline. Besides, it seems to be that they have a large reputation; they aren't one of those web pages with informal knowledge, extrange publications which allow you to doubt about their credibility, etc.

The first one it's a a free encyclopedia of mental health information: http://www.mentalhealth.com/. The site includes illness descriptions, information about diagnosis, treatments, etc. Also, has lots of links to other cientific web pages, which make it more useful. The main idea it's to share all the posible information about mental health, and the best of all, free of charge, jaja.

The second page it's http://www.personalityresearch.org/ This page contains plenty of information about the psychology of personality, in a language very familiar to the ordinary knowledge. It's pretty useful to make you a general idea about the science of Psychology in the topic of personality, and also at the same time in diferents points of view (psychology schools). Besides, possess so much links to similar pages and complete texts that it's recommendable to save it in the "favorites" folder.

My last weekend

This was a crazy weekend. On friday, I spend most of the morning at the university listening the debate about the students mobilization. Then, around 4 o'clock me and two friends went to my house, had lunch and at 7 o'clock we met with another friend in "Cerveza" pub. There we drank heavily and had a great time. At quarter to 11, we left the place with the idea of arrive to a friends party on maipu. There we drank again, dance, laugh, knew some new people, etc.: all the requirements of a good party. That night we didn't sleep.

On saturday, I arrived my home around 11 am. There, my family and I celebrated father's day for advance because my dad had to work on sunday. Then, at 4pm I went to sleep. In the night, I went out to a party again. This time was the birthday party of a friend from Copiapo who I didn't see since the summer; it was a great pleasure share with him again some time.

On sunday, I tried to recover all the lost sleep. Finally, at 7 pm saw a football match between Chile and Bolivia. After that, I returned to sleep.

My favorite song

My favorite song takes the name of "I'm sorry", which appeared in Recreation Day album. This is the fourth released by the incredible and excellent swedish progressive/power metal band Evergrey. I guess you can say Evergrey it's not a popular band in the top music business, but that's not a reason to believe they are an awfull band. All you need to do is listen this song and you'll see what I mean. The intensity of Tom Englund in the vocal and the technique of the other members adds to this band a unique sensation when you listen to them.

About the song, it comes to be a part of the whole context of the disc, reffered to the idea of personal reformation. This song talks about the mourners after a funeral. Here are the lyrics:

Web Quest: How stuff works…. - Animal Personality

1.- Why did you select the article?

• Because I love animals, specially dogs. When I was a kid, I was afraid to dogs; I couldn't be near to one, no matter size or look. Then, around 8 years ago, some people left a box in front of my garden, and inside of it, there was a little dog. My family didn't know what to do with it, but finally we decided to keep it with us: he was our first pet. Since then, I was able to get near to it and finally loose all the fear. Now I feel very close to any dog, friend's pets or stray dogs and I can't stand anyone who tries to hurt them. Besides, I study psychology, and "personality" it's one of the mayor topics in the discipline. There are plenty of theories who adds to the idea that personality it's related to the evolution of species. In short, the reasons to select the article are two: intelectual curiosity and personal attached to the animals.

• Yes, the article had a lot of information and fundaments in science.
• Yes, because I wanted to know about if it's posible that animals studies shed light on human behavior

3. What was the most interesting thing you learnt about it?

• That personality seems to be present in all animals, at least in lots of species. This it's very important because, of being true, could be posible to say that personality it's a product of natural selection. Besides, in the moment we affirm that animals have personality, we have the responsability to treat them according to the same one.

Personal Introduction

Welcome. This is me.

My name is Francisco Montaña, I'm 19 years old and I was born on 1989, in the city of Copiapo, located in the north of Chile. To be honest, there' s nothing really interesting to say. I'm a short and calm person who prefers solitary places and quiet environments. Neverthless, I love football, music, and parties.

At present, I'm in Psychology on second grade, and I keep asking myself: "what am I doing here?", but I guess it's OK. Out of the classes, I like to listening music (most of it rock or something like that), play the guitar, go to bars or friend's houses, drink a lot and have a great time. But, in general, I don't like to share with too much people. Also, there are sometimes when I'm in the mood to read, but it's not a common activity on me.

In my home, I live with my father, mother and brother; he's in medical school, around 4th grade. He's more like the opposite of me, very active, a social person, etc. My father studied medicine too and my mother it's more like me.
